Richard, I know not related to this post, however I recall you using a "grease" on your props etc, and getting a good couple of years. May I ask what grease it was. I do recall some one using "Penarton Cream" which also seem to work well. Thanks in advance.

Anonymous,

Here it is:

Delo Greases EP
Chevron Delo Greases EP are technically advanced, extreme pressure greases for on- and off-road applications. Four types of Delo Greases EP are available for use in a range of high- or low-temperature conditions.

I would be interested to see a break out of how many of these accidents (all types) were power boats vs sailboats. Any stats on that anywhere?

Dave,

Not to be snarky, but did you read the document? It's the table right below the posted screen shot.

- Open Motorboat - 2,220 casualties
- PWC - 1,049
- Cabin motorboat - 336
- Canoe/Kayak - 200
- Pontoon Boat - 127

Table 14 has a better breakdown. Sail-only had 86 casualties and aux-sail had 274 casualties. Presumably the casualty was recorded as cabin motorboat if the vessel was using engines vs. sail at time of the accident.

Fascinating. July had the most accidents, but the lowest percentage of fatalities than any other month. The most risky, but least fatal month of them all. Tons of intersting stuff in here. I'm surpirsed how many deaths there are at 'the dock'.
