Off Point No Point

Still enroute to Seattle @ 19:40. The current is now against us. So close, yet so far.

The good news is that I'll stay at Amanda's (my way cool step child) apartment on Lower Queen Ann Hill in Seattle tonight. Guess who's buying breakfast.

Vera's in Ballard isn't on the water, but the couple of times I've been there, it's been Papa Delta Golf. A quick drive from Queen Anne, too, if you can just find your way down to 15th Ave on the first try. My navigation skills are really not bad, but I still screw up frequently getting on and off Queen Anne Hill after 15 years in Seattle.

That's a loong haul with a tow in good weather, let alone a rainy cold day like today (at least its been very cold here on Orcas), n it looks like youve probably been in 2-3' chop most of the way. Spot showed u were about off Richmond Beach an hour ago at 2100, so youre making remarkably good time.

Trips like this is where you indeed earn everything u get, and really deserve a nice tip or bonus bcs it's a laborious job, and the owner got a helluva deal relative to his alternatives.

Lee, it's really a long haul in a kayak. Last July 19-20 I paddled home from Friday Harbor to Seattle (Meadow Pt. at Golden Gardens). In the boat 15.5 hours, a few ticks over 36 hours total time. Mostly pretty flat except a couple of miles with 2-3 foot waves north of Smith Island and a small surf landing and launch at Pt. Partridge, and some chop from there to Ebey's Landing, where I gave up for the day. Good times, if you're just a little masochistic.

Thanks guys,

We ended up at The Shanty, as it was a block from Amanda's Apt.

Good grub, and reasonable.
