Assistance Towing & Rambling Maritime Information
BitterEnd refers to the end of a line (never a rope) that is secured to a (towing) bitt. The working end of a line is referred to as the Standing End.
BitterEnd Logo: The aquamarine octopus on a dark blue ground symbolizes the Salish Sea, BitterEnd's stomping grounds. Enteroctopus dolfleini, the giant Pacific octopus, is indigenous to local waters and is the largest octopus on the planet. One is always lurking somewhere below the surface.
The 2009 season will see a number of posts via my cell phone. The posts may be lacking in format, but not in content.

Richard,
Which way are you going, via south end of Whidbey, or via Deception Pass
or the Slough? Since it's a great wx I assume you're probably taking the open-water route down Haro St, even though have to double-back up Saratoga Passage
Compared to what u went thru 2 days ago this should be piece of cake today.
Lee
I hope you got some donuts at the Lime Kiln!
Lee,
The plan was to take Deception Pass until the strand decided he'd save four hours by going to Cornet Bay.
Frankly, working traffic in restricted visibility is taxing.
