Adrift 2.0

The radio crackled at 04:40 this morning with the report of this 21' Bayliner that had wondered away from its owner who was camping on Sucia Island.

A quick set and drift took me almost directly to the Trophy.

This case could have been salvage. We charged for the three hours invested plus a $100 call out (get out of bed) fee.

The owner wanted to know why so much. If he only knew cheap he got off.

MGYS,

Boating on July 4, is kinda like deciding to go drinking on New Years Eve....it's best left to amateurs.

Richard, I couldn't agree more. That's why we are staying home this weekend and going boating the next.

Jeeez - Capt "R" - we get drift-aways here all the time (we charge time invested only, plus impound and storage until claimed) or salvage titled. We don't have to use "set & drift" here to locate them, (current only flows one way, then wet your finger and stick it up to see which way the wind is blowing) as they pretty much bang off one shoreline or the other or a fisherman runs over them and tells us where they are - - - Out here, if you told one of these rednecks to "cleat a line" you would probably get punched in the face - - he's thinkin u was accusen his brother of lying - - "Hey - "Clete - A-Lyein" -(poor attempt at ozark humor)

You really did give that guy a break - you left off the "Stupid Fee" - - - :-)

OHHHHH I forgot! When a "BAYLINER" drifts away here, the owner is fined for littering!
