Weems and Plath LIGHTrule

New Improved Model

Old Model

Weems and Plath President, Peter Trodgon

Being a 72 ColRegs Maven, I sit up and take notice of new aids on the block. About a year and a half ago, while attending the Seattle Boat Show, I was visiting the Weems and Plath folks at the Captain's Nautical Supply booth.

I took particular notice of a new product the LIGHTrule, and quickly noticed a subtle mistake. The Inland Rules call for a Special Flashing Light (50-70 flashes per second - amber light) on objects being pushed and hip towed. The LIGHTrule said that a Flashing Light (120 flashes or more was called for.) Being retentative, I pointed it out to the rep (didn't know he was the Weems and Plath President, Peter Trogdon.) He indicated that it would be corrected.

Over the weekend Peter called and indicated that he was in Friday Harbor aboard Weems and Plath's Company Boat, (I was in Ancortes) and said that the changes had been made and he wanted to give me a a few LIGHTrules to use in class.
Thanks Peter.

(Ed. note: If you're checking, the Davis Marine - Quick Navigation Rules, has the same mistake.)

Don't miss the Navagear Post, here.
