This first set is the 26' Fiberform that was on fire in Thatcher Pass on Saturday.
This genset had a fuel leak. That leak reached the manifold on the engines and flashed. A passenger on the recieved first and second degree burns on his chest and arms. The passenger's son, and vessel owner, a 10 year volunteer firefighter, extinguished the blaze with a dry chem extinguisher. You can see the residue on the engine and genset. The burn victims wife, a nurse, administered first aid. The CG Cutter was only a few minutes away. The Firday Harbor Fireboat Confidence responded as the the Sheriff's boat Guardian. A Fish & Wildlife vessel transported the burnn victim to Anacortes, where they were met at an EMT unit at Washington Park.
The following is from Sunday.

Richard,
I noticed the engines are missing flame arrestors, and at least one is missing the oil filler cap. Do you know if these were removed during the fire fighting process, or were they off to begin with?
Raul
Damn - Did they really have a Home Depot generator installed below decks? Or was it in the cockpit area?
Either way, there's SO much wrong with that idea - no flame arrestor, carb bowl overflow drains overboard rather than being captured into the carb, fuel tank vent can overflow, non-ignition protected brushes on the generator, who knows about the voltage regulator, etc....
Norton Rider, Sorry, I don't know.
Dan, The HD genset was sitting in the cockpit. It was a disaster waiting to happen.
Richard,
I was nice talking to you on the radio about a week ago (you were towing the "Karma is a _ _ _ _" sailboat just south of Jones Is.
A few days later, we were in Anacortes when I decided to check your blog and noticed your track leading to Anacortes. I walked over to see the where you had dropped off the 26' Fiberform. That's when I realized I recognized that boat.
They had pulled into James Is. Friday afternoon and shuttled most of their family (son, daughter in-law, grand-daughter, and others) to the island along with all their camping gear. Seem like really nice folks. The son and family camped ashore while the skipper and his wife spent the night on their boat. The next morning we were getting ready to leave our buoy on the east side of the island when the owner of the Fiberform came over in his dingy and asked if I had any oil onboard. He said that they had developed an oil leak. I gave him a quart of oil and said goodbye.
I was kind of shocked to see their boat back in Anacortes that afternoon with the burned generator and charred 15A electrical cord in the cockpit. I did notice the halon dust everywhere from the FIREX.
Where they able to get all of their family and camping gear back from James Is. before the incident? Those buoys on the east side of James Is. are pretty lumpy. I wonder if the gas from their generator spilled while they were being rocked. The missing flame arrestors and subsequent "oil leak" points at some serious lack of maintenance.
I hope that things turned out ok with their injuries.
